The Shape of a TEDdy Bear

    by
****!SPOILER ALERT: I RUIN THE MOVIE TED IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT!****   This week we had to watch a video by Kurt Vonnegut telling the “shapes” of stories. I thought this would be another dull video, but to my surprise, he was actually pretty funny and presented his information with a sense of humor. After enjoying the video, I took a peek at the work by Maya Eilam. I laughed at the sight of Harold and Kumar in the category of “Man in Hole”.  Her graphics inspired me to create this lovely image here: Which I hope everyone can see!(Just shoot me a comment if you aren’t able to … Continue reading

What’s in a Name, Storytelling is NOT Lame ?

    by
When I hear the word [storytelling] the first thought that comes to mind is bedtime… ~LyndseyLu My Take on [digital]Storytelling Romance, adventure, terror, endless love, knight in shining armor, evil villains, damsel in distress, compassion, fate. Storytelling is a way to express hope, quests for truth, morals, rational thinking and sometimes even irrational thinking. Storytelling enables us to escape from reality. Giving hopes and dreams a second chance. Stories can be told anywhere, anyplace, anytime; by many means such as, verbal, visual, and a combination of both. Placing the word [digital] in front of storytelling allows for a greater experience of that story; enabling it to in some cases come to life. Making a story … Continue reading

    I’m Forrest, Forrest Gump.

    by
I found Linda McKenna’s Forrest Gump assignment to be very creative! Forrest Gump was one of my favorite childhood movies. I remember being so excited to go to my grandma’s house because she had the movie on VHS.  I feel like this amimation really displays Forrest’s personality. He is completely distracted by the ping-pong ball ...

When the word storytelling comes to mind, it instantly brings back memories of my elementary school years.  Storytelling to me is a way in which people can share their imagination.  Some storytelling can be based on real life experiences while … Continue reading

I choose to look at the story “If Movie Posters Told the Truth” (http://blog.mysight.me/if-movie-posters-told-the-truth/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=if-movie-posters-told-the-truth). I like it because it tells the truth and it is pretty funny. I love romcoms and romance movies so I’ve seen her reject Ryan Gosling … Continue reading

Movable type and love on the remix

    by
I’m a little obsessed with a group called The Civil Wars. If you are even vaguely a fan of excellent country (heck, even if you’re not) you really need to listen to Barton Hollow. Like, now. The reason I bring them up is that not only have they done some really fantastic re-stylings of Michael ...

The ups and downs of VEGAS.

    by
The movie What Happens in Vegas is one of my FAVORITES. It is a romantic comedy starring Cameron Diaz, as Joy and Ashton Kutcher, as Jack. I thought this would be an awesome movie to apply Kurt Vonnegut’s story shape idea because the two main characters have lots of ups and downs. At first, ...

    Storytelling

    by
If I defined storytelling in my own words I would say it’s: an expression of events told with presenter bias, directed at a general or specified audience. Storytelling doesn’t make me think of specific images, people, places or sounds because it’s very broad and can entail almost anything; real, imaginary, exciting, boring, detail, generalizations, it depends on the storyteller. When adding digital to the word storytelling I think the definition becomes slightly more specific, I think the definition would then become: an expression of events told with presenter bias through digital medias, directed at a larger, possibly online audience. I think storytelling in general is usually presented to known audiences, while ...

During the battle Rebel spies managed to steal plans to the Web’s ultimate weapon – the Trojan and ... Continue Reading

    Shaping a Story

    by
I decided, again, to do a “Mean Girls” related thing, since almost everyone has seen that movie. And if you haven’t, you need to. First, the movie portrays Cady as moving to Africa and being friendless. While this isn’t the … Continue reading

    Once upon a time…

    by
… on a fairly new website, a blog post about storytelling started out with a ridiculously cliched title. The author of said blog post squinted at the screen. An -ly adverb? I use way too many of those, she thought, that’s lazy writing right there. Augh! Did it again. Typical, too, getting bogged down in ...

I’ve been griping recently about my phone, the LG-VN150 Revere, being unable to download images to my PC even though it came with a nifty little data cable. The Shape of Bambi

I never really thought about all stories having a specific shape. This. Is. Storytelling.

    by
What do I associate with the word “storytelling”? Glad you asked! Yupp, that’s Paul Bunyan and Babe! “Once upon a time…” is a phrase I associate with story telling. So, once upon a time, when I heard storytelling, I would think of folklore and other far-fetched stories. However, as I grew up, storytelling turned into telling real-life stories to one another. Stories that became rumors, and those rumors would spread like wildfire. Rumors that would go so far and become the most ridiculous lies, I mean stories, you had ever heard. Jump to the digital storytelling age. What is digital storytelling? Well obviously sharing your crazy drunk stories through texts, … Continue reading
