    Week 10 Summary

    by
When watching the video editing clips assigned this week, I realized a really good thesis for this course. In this video, the narrator spoke about how cinema was an invention without a future, and it wasn’t until cinematographers discovered that … Continue reading

    Week 10 – PreProduction

    by
The assignments I chose to pre-produce are the “Play by Play” and “What Do Pets Think About?” I find that when I’m sitting around playing games or even watching tv, I like to make my own narration for everything. I LOVE playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band and grab the microphone and sing…but I don’t sing the lyrics, I make up my own ,with the same tones so that we pass, but my friends usually end up laughing until they cry! So what I think I will aim at is audio-dubbing videos because I realized this week that I’m not the best with editing video. I don’t have the video’s that I … Continue reading

    Pre Production

    by
Ok so instead of diving right in  we are going to take things slow for this section, which i appreciate because I’m not very familiar with video editing at all. So Lets start with pre production Play by Play A common theme for a lot of videos on youtube already. watch a video of anyone playing a videogame or anything sports related you will hear this sort of commentary. For this I kind of want to use a video I have recorded of a fire poi performance (I used a frame from it in a daily create) and record my own commentary of the event. and maybe add some funny sound effects for it from … Continue reading

    Video Assignments

    by
The two video assignments that I might consider doing next week are Joining the conversation and That 70s Show Circle.  The reasons that these two appeal to me is because I always watch that 70s show and I remember watching a Join the conversation video at the beginning of the semester about a cat and ...

    Reading Moving Pictures Week

    by
I have very little video-editing knowledge.  Aside from helping a “friend” with MPEG Streamclip video editing for an earlier version of this class two years ago and my final video assignment for Digital Approaches to Fine Arts, I have no knowledge.  Any knowledge that I pretend to have is faux-ledge. This has been a pretty ...

    Revisiting Opening Scene

    by
(You can see my original notes here: http://melindakumi.com/2012/11/01/opening-scene/) I believe that this would fall in the Action / Crime genres according to my understanding of Film Genres. Because I have never actually seen the movie I am still assuming that this is relatively fast-paced.  The movie is based on the lives of criminals and are even ...

This week I: prepped for next week watched a video clip 3 times looked up a little more on my clip Reviewed my video editing software: the video editing software I have available is iMovie and I downloaded MPEG StreamClip. I have never used either of these programs.. hopefully it’s not too hard to get a hang of. I have played with iMovie before but have never seriously sat down and looked at the features to make a project. And did 2 daily creates I’m a little intimated about the weeks to come, but giving us a warm up this week hopefully prepared me and got the initial kinks out … Continue reading →

    Next Weeks Video Assignments

    by
Next week I want to try Joining the Conversation there is only one example of it so far an that one wouldn’t open for me, but the assignment seems pretty well explained. I think I may use the end of the clip Protect Your Dreams which I have downloaded, and probably replace Jaden’s lines to make the scene a little lighter, but I still need to come up with witty new dialogue and record it. I am also going to try the One Archetype, Five Movies, Five Seconds assignment. I already have my archetype: misunderstood teens, my 5 characters and a sounds clip from the breakfast club, the ultimate misunderstood teen movie. I looked at … Continue reading →

Look, Listen, Analyze.. My Best Friend’s Girl Styleee

    by
I reviewed the trailer for My Best Friend’s Girl three times: Step One: “Before watching the first time, slide the volume on the clip (or on your computer) all the way down.” I watched the clip on mute. Man oh man was this trailer entertaining without the volume.  The first scene is of a couple and it’s panned back and forth between. This accounts for showing their different expressions, very adapt way of showing both the full conversation and the emotions/reactions of each character. The next scene shows the relationship of what looks like either two friends or two brothers. The quality of their relationship it shown through the characters … Continue reading

I might do a new one but this one is just to show what I can sort of work with. I have an example of the Windows Movie maker.. Some More Pursuit of Happyness

    by
3 bits of info about the making of the movie: Wiki says: -The movie is based on the true story of Chris Gardner‘s one year struggle with homelessness - Jaden Smith, Will’s actual son play’s Chris’ son in the movie -”Gardner makes a cameo appearance in the film, walking past Will and Jaden in the final scene. Gardner and Will acknowledge each other; Will then looks back at Gardner walking away as his son proceeds to tell him knock knock jokes.” This is a Drama film, which fits the description; “Dramas are serious, plot-driven presentations, portraying realistic characters, settings, life situations, and stories involving intense character development and interaction. Week 10 Summary!

    by
This week I did a lot better about managing my time, this online class is actually proving to be challenging, which I didn’t think it would be. My Experience with video editing goes back pretty far. I used to make videos in middle school and actually almost got expelled for uploading one to youtube. I didn’t get kid’s parent’s permission to post the video online. All I got was a slap on the wrist though. I’ve worked with Windows Movie Maker and iMovie. I recently started using iMovie because I bought a mac. I seem to like Windows Movie Maker better though. I did my Jaws movie stuff in seperate … Continue reading

    Slenderman Horror Movie.

    by
For the assignment we had to create a scene from a horror film. I’ve been wanting to do this so bad because I scare my best friend all the time with the slenderman. I plan on making a silent movie based in an rural setting at night on a windy night. Kris, the main character is going to be enjoying a quiet night alone in his house when he has the sudden urge to go night running. He grabs his flash light, his safety vest, and his jacket. He locks the front door and sets out into the woods. He has an eerie feeling that someone is watching him. Creepy … Continue reading
