Roller Coaster Ride with a Nervous Newbie

    by
For my last assignment from the audio assignment bank, I chose Roller Coaster Freaks for 2.5 stars. I got really into this one!! I layered 6 different audio clips until I was happy. I used freesounds.org for my audio and audacity to edit the clips. I used a clip of someone’s roller coaster ride throughout the …

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things…

    by
I chose to complete the “A Collection of Your Favorite Sounds” assignment. Although it is only 2 stars, it looked fun so I went for it! My top 4 favorite sounds (in order) are: a sleeping baby, a laughing baby, the ocean waves, and food frying! I used freesound.org  for all of my sounds. I …

My Very own TED Talk… Kind of

    by
I really enjoyed the Ted Talk Pronunciation Practice Assignment (3 stars). It was right up my alley. I enjoy public speaking and presenting to others, so I enjoyed this activity. I first watched through the video, pausing every few seconds to type out the script of what the presenter was saying because I was unable …

    Tweet-Along

    by
This is my first time listening to a radio show, and my first time live tweeting! Tuning in, I've never listed to a radio show that wasn't music before! #ds106radio #ds106 — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Nope, never on the radio! Music only #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Oh, this isn’t Downton Abbey? Why does this remind me of Downton Abbey? #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Someone suggested it was the accents, which yes for sure, but also I do think it had a lot to do with the sound effects! Many were the same. Have you ever thought about beeps in movies/television/radio shows? I hadn’t, but now I can’t stop! Hospitals, airports, intercoms, various machines. Do you have any that you can think of? There are so many unique ones! That beep before he spoke over the Airport intercom was so iconic. I've never realized how many different beeps that exist in the world specific to certain places! #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 So, I guess my attention span isn’t that great, or at least is very tied to visual things! I was finding it hard to concentrate on the story without having something to look at! Even a picture or drawing representing the show would have helped! Starring at the wall felt awkward, looking at everyone’s tweets was fine, but otherwise I kept being temped to just scroll on my computer. So, as a follow up, I asked what everyone was looking at! Is anyone else finding it hard to follow along when there's nothing to look at? My mind keeps wandering #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Follow up: What ARE you guys looking at? The wall? The computer? #ds106radio https://t.co/hsgygq8WO5 — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Then I actually tweeted about the content of the show again. I wasn’t quite sure what we were supposed to be tweeting about, so I just went with whatever came to mind through the hour! I was shocked that he would ask his brother’s fiance to run away with him! Wow that was BOLD Spider. Very bold #ds106 #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 That wraps it up for my live tweeting! Listening to the radio like this was an interesting experience. I mostly (if ever now) use it for music, when I was younger I would sometimes listen to the talk shows on the radio in the morning while getting ready for school, but that was only the morning shows that they have on the music stations where they talk for a few minutes every once and awhile. I still remember it, Elvis and the morning show! On Q102 (a top 40 station based out of Philly). Thanks for reading and tweeting along with me!

    Daily Creates Week 5

On Monday I stated that I didn’t want to survive the apocalypse instead of stating what I would bring to my bunker to survive it. A bit pessimistic, but it’s the truth! Have you seen the walking dead? The Hunger Games? No thank you!! Then, I had to describe what my age was with a chronological metaphor. This is pretty obvious if you ask me! This is all I've done since my birthday #ds106 #tdc2449 pic.twitter.com/1BVoauSxxn — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018
