    Creating a Charity Ad…

    by
This assignment caught my attention because I come from a family who works for a few non-profit organizations and thought that creating a charity ad would be fun. I decided to go with Walk To End Alzheimer’s because my Grandpa recently passed from Alzheimer’s. I enjoy working with this charity to bring awareness to the … Continue reading Creating a Charity Ad…

Create an ad to inform people about a charity and encourage them to donate. https://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/charity-ad/ For this assignment, I created an ad for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. I used Canva, which I just learned how to use! I liked this background template that they had, so I used that, and imported […]

    A Struggle in My Story

    by

For my final assignment this week, I chose to go a more personal route. In November 2018, I woke up unable to feel half of my face. I still had complete muscle control with no sinking, so we knew it wasn’t a stroke. I had been perfectly healthy all my life, so this came as […]

    Spill the Tea

    by
One of the assignments this week from the Design Assignments was to create a charity ad. One of my all time favorite charities is 4Ocean. The work they do is incredible and so inspiring. In relation to our theme of “What is Our Story”, this charity was what introduced me to ocean conservation. I got […]

    Hanover Humane Society.

    by
This is the original assignment link. This assignment was worth 3 1/2 stars. I decided to create a poster for the Hanover Humane Society that is located in Ashland, VA. I have been there myself and I really appreciate this place and what is stands for. I chose to create this poster on Canva and used photos and images of the dogs and cats from the internet. I think the background used is the perspective of a poster on a board. If you want to visit this amazing place visit the link provided on the poster below. It will give

    Charity Ad

    by
This assignment required me to create an ad for a charity, made up or real, to encourage someone to donate. I chose the non-profit, Kiva. Kiva isn’t a charity in the traditional way. Kiva is a microloan lending nonprofit that allows someone to loan any amount of money to someone anywhere in the world. The people requesting loans on Kiva are typically doing so to start a business, help make their current business grow, buy more resources for their farm, etc. Kiva is exceptionally awesome because it directly empowers people in developing countries. I loaned $25 to a woman in Nigeria who wanted money to buy new farming tools and seeds for her garden so she could feed her children and sell her surplus at a market! The great thing about Kiva is that it is a loan program, not a grant. People are held accountable to repay their loans and there is incredible repayment rate. Once your loan is repaid, you are given the option to loan some or all of it back out to someone else on the website in need, rather than transferring the money back into your own account. To make the poster, I again used Canva. I searched for a rural village image since I think Kiva is most beneficial to people living in rural, developing regions of the world. I then used the text setting to add the name Kiva and the company’s slogan. If you’re thinking of donating your tax returns this year, I definitely suggest looking into Kiva!

Shaving my Head for Childhood Cancer Research

    by
For my second design assignment, I decided to add my own assignment to the assignment bank. The assignment I made is to create an ad for a charity. I created an ad for St. Baldrick’s, which raises money and awareness for children’s cancer research. In about three weeks, I will be shaving my head at …
