    Little Rosie

    by
The people I live with call me Little Rosie, so I suppose that is my name. There are three people I live with; my mommy, my daddy and my aunty. But my daddy is away on a very important mission. Some things you might want to know about me. One, something is attached to my butt. I do not know what it is, but it is fun to chase and chew on. Two, I really like to eat and chew on plastic things around the house. It makes my family mad and I think it’s funny. Three, my favorite thing of all time is having my neck scratched. And four, I am a secret agent working for my mommy. My days are filled with very important secret agent tasks. First, I do surveillance around Headquarters by walking around my block sniffing everything and marking our territory. While my mommy and aunty get ready to go to their undercover work, I eat my sustenance for the day. I then keep an eye out for them while they eat their sustenance. Both mommy and my aunty leave for their secret assignments around the same time. It is me, Little Rosie, who has the most important job. Guard Headquarters. Throughout the day there are many dangers I must fight off. Since we send messages to other secret agents, I have to make sure I watch for the message man who takes our messages and bring us new ones. When he comes, I let him know that all is well and he can do his job. If I am not there, then he will think something bad happen and will not leave our new messages. Pretty soon after that, my mommy comes home. We go on a surveillance walk to make sure that we have not been found out yet. Sometimes mommy has to run errands which means that I am back on guard duty. It is always a long day, but I know my mommy and aunty have long days too. My aunty gets home later, normally after dinner. She then has a ton of paper work to do. My mommy needs a lot of sleep for her long days, so she goes to bed while aunty keeps working. I help her by guarding her so that she does not have to worry about the bad guys finding us. It is hard to keep up my energy, but it’s the life of a secret agent.

    Ten Seconds of Thanks!

    by
For this second writing assignment we were suppose to time ourselves for 10 seconds and in those 10 seconds come up with a list of things we are thankful for. For “bonus points” we were told to draw a picture of ourselves in 10 seconds as well. Here is what I came up with: This list is short mostly because I only had 10 seconds, but, it is also short because this is what is most important in my life. After I wrote the list I wondered why I put family and parents separate, and even though these two things are the same, I still can’t decide. I am also not surprised that I put soccer because I am very thankful for soccer and all the opportunities it has brought me these past 18 years (yes I have been on an organized soccer team since I was 3)! I am also thankful for animals, particularly my pets. Although they can be a pain sometimes, they have brought so much joy to my family. Without pets a home would feel so empty- even if there are kids running around. They bring a sense of protection as well to the home. Before I started the timer, I prepared myself by grabbing a piece of paper and pen, unfortunately the color was green. But then I proceeded to start the timer and began to write down things I was thankful for. After than I started the timer again and drew this picture of me. I maaay have overdone it on time by 3 seconds but I had to get the eyebrows juuust right. Overall I enjoyed this assignment and reminded me what I am thankful for!

    Assignment Bank #4

    by
https://web.archive.org/web/20160329210717/http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/im-a-real-boy/ This last assignment bank took the most creativity. I haven’t written my own personal short story since probably elementary school. The only thing I’m used to is essays. I wanted to challenge myself and see how well I can tell a short story. Overall it was generally easy. I didn’t make an outline or anything, I just let the story flow out of me. I used this as a chance to connect this to our theme. The assignment basically states to imagine yourself as someone else and write about it, and I didn’t specifically state that this was an alter life, it was implied. Tying this into our theme made this assignment a whole lot easier. It gave me a specific topic to write about. Being creative with it was a lot more fun that I originally thought. I thought this assignment would be a hassle, but it was honestly one of my favorite assignment banks from the past couple of weeks. It took the most time, but it was the most rewarding. Pushing myself was definitely worth it.

    Assignment Bank #3

    by
https://web.archive.org/web/20150915090743/http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/that-bucket-list-though/ I was very interested in this assignment. All the time do I say that something is on my bucket list, but never write it down. I thought this assignment would be easier than it was. I thought as soon as I was thinking of things I wanted to put on my bucket list, ideas would shoot out onto the page, but nothing came to me. I had to go to Pinterest for inspiration, and after about fifteen minutes I had my five things complete. Writing about why I wanted to do them were really simple, as I listed things I genuinely wanted to do. I wrote all of the things I wanted to do onto a sheet of paper and then went to my blog to make a post explaining everything. I plan to keep this as a part of a new bucket list that I will remember forever. I will add to it and eventually have a complete list that I will carry out through my life. I made a bucket list years ago that I thought I had stashed in my closet, but it wasn’t there. I either did everything on the list, or eventually thought it was time to part with it because I wasn’t interested in the events on it. I’m super excited to have started a new one. I hope to actually carry out the actions on it this time.

    Assignment Bank #2

    by
https://web.archive.org/web/20150915214048/http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/a-haiku-poem-about-a-haiku-poem/ I have never thought about making a haiku poem about a haiku poem. Haikus seem to be a theme with my assignment banks, so I thought this would only be fitting. It said it would be challenging, however it wasn’t. I found the assignment, thought about what a haiku was, and sounded out the syllables on my fingers until they fit the rules. I then wrote them down on a piece of paper, and then tweeted them. This assignment was super simple, but I enjoyed it. This haiku was significantly longer than the other two I’ve written. Instead of one poem, I had to write three. This didn’t make it any more difficult, as writing it in one poem would’ve been highly complicated. I feel like haikus are going to be all over my blog, and I’m perfectly fine with that. They’re simple, but can be interpreted in so many different ways by different audiences. That, to me, is a very special thing.

    Assignment Bank #1

https://web.archive.org/web/20160531093451/http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/haiku-about-you/ For this assignment, I had to write a haiku about myself. It could’ve been about a hobby or something I’m passionate about. I opted to write about my growth. Over the last few years I have seen myself grow an immense amount. Before college, I went through some things people never have to go through. These leave scars that never heal. However, through the power of myself and those that love me, I have been able to grow and become so proud of myself. I know that if I can get through those obstacles, I can get through anything. I know my future is bright. I know there is always a way to be happy. A quote I live by is, “sometimes things fall apart so better things can come together.” This quote is very true to me. Personal growth is one of the most amazing things. I love to think back on my struggles and know how far I’ve come. If I have grown this much in the last couple of years, nothing can stop me for the years to come. I am stronger. I love how a simple haiku can tell such a big story. It was quite easy to write, as everything I wanted to say fit the syllables and I just wrote it onto paper and composed it into a tweet. I rediscovered haiku’s in last weeks assignment banks, and I throughly enjoy them. They can be interpreted so much by the audience. There really is no right meaning behind a haiku. This is reflective of life.

Alternate Ending of Step Brothers: Spy Edition

    by
If you’ve ever seen the movie Step Brothers, you know that at the end of the movie Dale and Brennan come together (after parting ways for a while) at the Catalina Wine Mixer and play one last song together and save the whole mixer (their jobs depended on it). For my alternate ending I would …
