Lessons from Diane Arbus: Gay Rights & Memes

    by
Like Diane Arbus‘ work, many memes rely on odd-looking individuals to create attention-grabbing content. After watching a documentary about her, I think she had  a better understanding of what she was doing and how it worked than many internet users do of the memes they make. Meme All The Different Looking People! Visually outstanding individuals […]

    Week In Review

    by
This week can be described in 3 words. Pictures, photos, images. But I love this section! Taking pictures is a process, in my opinion. You learn from reviewing all the shots you did. You see exactly where you messed up, what you can do better next time. I really enjoy having a theme and looking […]

The year is nearly done. I’ve taken a couple pictures to be part of my photo essay. Still need to find a few more but I’ve got a couple that I really like. Also been working on the comic for the final project. I think it’s going well just need to decide on final details.

    Nothing is ever really forgotten

    by

In response to watching Master of Photography I thought it was really interesting. I especially liked the idea that photographs capture a moment in time and that moment allows us to scrutinized something more than we normally would. Photographs capture a single moment. I’ve seen several that we not true to what was happening. Like a photo where someone looks angry but really the camera caught them at an off moment. Photographs can also capture a moment perfectly.

I like photographs because they let us see a moment in the past. If the picture is of something that I forgot about it’s interesting to see how the memories can come back. Sometimes photography can be deceptively simple but it can also be more difficult than people think because of all the choices that can be made to compose a piece.

On a final note I also liked the idea that something boring can become interesting. Every once and a while I think to myself. Isn’t it amazing that we even exist. That I met someone we talked and now we’re friends. That of all the people in the world I met this one person and we decided to be friends. Its “boring” that we have friends usually people have friends but it can become fascinating when you think about it for a while.

First off can we talk about how amazingly 70s this documentary was? The hair, the clothes, the drugged-out speeches from different people interviewed - it was perfect. And I really really loved that. This was an absolutely amazing documentary. I really ...
