    Ready, SET, Go!

    by
This week, I’m learning much more about Flickr and its inner workings.  I’ve been posting tons of photos to Flickr for various uses: daily creates, assignments, and screen shots to embed into posts.  Cogdog wanted us to explore Flickr more and create ...

    Thirds in Your Photographs

    by
This week in ds106, my class starts a week of looking at visual storytelling, primarily in working with their own photographs. For me, this is some of my favorite stuff since I love taking photos. I’d like them all to get better at taking interesting photos, moving from snapshot mentality to be composing in their mind. Many have already gotten bit as they are energized by the challenges of the Daily Create. I know in the past is what happens is they start looking differently at the world around them, noticing the patterns of those paving stones on campus rather than just walking over them, looking up, down with their camera, looking for interesting shadows, and objects that are juxtaposed. I am trying a new activity this week- as in years past, I have a collection of resources and shared suggestions on how to beocme a better photographer, I have ...

    Sewing sounds nice…

    by
When we were given the assignment this week to make a sound story, I was terrified. I have never dealt solely with sound before and was nervous about doing sound editing, especially when I realized that I would need to make a sound story with only sound effects and no spoken words. My first thought ...

I hear you loud and clear

    by
This week is almost over and you know what I am a little sad about that but not too much because that just means a new week is starting up. This whole I have been sick and it was very difficult for me to do my audio like my bumper. Which was the most difficult ...

    The Second Sense of Hearing

    by
When I saw we were working with audio this week, I wasn’t very excited.  I haven’t worked with audio before, so I was dreading it. Doing something new is scary! But on Tuesday I decided to stop pouting about it and just jump in. Though it probably would have been smarter to start from the ...

    Week 4 in The Books

Audio Storytelling Audio Storytelling-What’s Up With It? Ira Glass and Jad Abumrad videos bring about some very good points in their videos. While Ira explains the main components of a good audio story, Jad delves into what makes audio so powerful. I enjoyed listening to the thoughts of two leaders in the radio industry. Listening ...

    listen close, listen carefully

    by
The satisfaction of this weeks work comes in the physical form of a smile. As in a huge dorky smile that not only did I accomplish a buttload, I understood a buttload! I actually understood every single concept this week, yeah some of it was fuzzy, sure, I had to rewind but hey, i understood ...

    by
While listening to the radio show I was a bit confused just because I did not know what I was listening too cause I just jumped right in there and started to listen. Unfortunately when I started to listen the person was finishing talking but I did hear a lot of stuff toward the end of the ...

    I Hear a Story…

    by
This was my favorite thing to do all week The Five Sound Story. I wanted to do someone making soup since I am sick but I thought thought that would be too easy and I really wanted to challenge myself. So there for I did someone leaving to somewhere (I wanted it to be the ...

    Bumper..like bumper cars?!

    by
Let me just say that I was sick all week so I really did not know how to do this and sound like a normal person. But anyways to create my bumper I first downloaded Audacity and the necessary plug-in it was the easiest thing I had to do all week. Then I had to get over my ...

    Radio Show-OoOOOoo

    by
I made a very valid attempt to listen to ds106 radio this week but I have a pretty conflicting schedule (rugby, volunteering, and seventeen credits!). It covered a significant amount of random things, from songs the 80′s to an old woman stating how it much more beneficial it is to take the stairs (than goes ...

    Out For A Stroll

    by
One bright sunny day, the Fandom Princess decided that she would go on a stroll in town. She had finished with her lessons for the day and saw that Ghost wanted to stretch his legs. So, after making sure her prized ruby gem was safely on the silver chain, she … Continue reading

    Ahhh, Game Over

    by
For this sound effect story assignment, we were instructed to create a short story using strictly sound effects. For this project, I thought I would delve into my past, and tell a story that an 8 year old Dylan knew all too well. This audio story documents the journey of a video game player, from ...

    Daily Create’s: Semana Cuatro

    by
Daily Create’s have always been the funnest thing around town, no? This week, for mine, I did an ACROSTIC poem (I used to love doing these at a young age!) I used the word Sweatpants, which is what I wear pretty much every cold winter day. Then I renamed a movie title (originally, Dude, Where’s ...

Up from the ashes,? Grow the roses of success

    by
For this week, we had to watch a couple segments by Ira Glass, who talks about storytelling and what that entails. These videos were very powerful in that he describes how essential storytelling is, and how although many think that they have the right idea with it, they’re all actually wrong — especially those in ...

    Getting Away With It

    by
I decided to listen to This American Life: Getting Away With it. It should be immediately known that I am a very visual person, so right off the bat I knew I had to read the transcript in order to follow along. However, to be fair to the disclosure at the top, I listened to ...

    My DS106 Fix

    by
To fulfill my one hour of listening to D106 radio this week I tuned in to the weekly DS106 show, in its grand premiere as a radio show, rather than the usual Google Hangout format. The show was co-hosted by two fellow DS106ers, and it was interesting to hear their reviews of the previous week’s ...

First ever radio story I ever listened to

    by
I just finished listening to a radio story and might I just say it was soo interesting. I listened to Doppelgangers by Fred Armisen and Ira Glass. I liked it because it was like a real story and I thought radio is only about the news, but no I was wrong this was both a story and ...
