    Week 2

What a crazy week! I can’t believe it has only been two weeks. This week, in particular, has been a rough one. On top of this class, I have three 400-level computer science courses and intermediate Spanish. The free time I have is extremely limited so I certainly fell behind this week. I foolishly failed … Continue reading "Week 2"

    Another One Bites the Dust

    by
Week 2 Daily Creates I started this week late due to family visiting my home and unfortunate events with my spouse’s vehicle, but when I finally checked in I was stoked to see the inclusion of the daily create. I wanted to participate in them, but it would slip my mind. Now that it is […]

    Week Two Summary

    by
What a week! I have learned and developed a lot of skills this week through the different assignments. I have really enjoyed diving more into our theme and finding ways to incorporate it into my different projects for this class. Photoshop has definitely been my favorite thing I’ve used this week. I was able to use my photoshopping skills in both my Daily Creates and Assignment Bank assignments. At the beginning of this week I was a bit nervous about the work load. It seemed a lot more challenging than the first week (which I should have assumed it would […]

    All Work and All Play

Today marks the end of Week 2 on our DS106 journey for this semester, and now that the semester is slowly kicking into full gear, this old soul is wearing down. That said, this week has helped me to slowly adjust to how we do things in this course. I started my Friday of last […]

    Thank You

January 23, 2020. At the Starbucks drive-through. Lots of progress on the ethics paper - maybe I should start calling it a book, it's more than 20 pages and I'm still on part one. Anyhow, I am being left alone to work on this, which I appreciate, and I...

    Water Bottle

    by
January 22, 2020. This is the inside of a bottle I use to fill my CPAP with distilled water. Today I reviewed a bunch of conference proposals and attended to other admin tasks, and then made progress on the ethics paper. https://flic.kr/p/2ijmouJ

This week’s assignments were definitely a learning process for me. Since I’ve never been really part of the social media world, the daily creates using twitter was a change for me, it was fun. The 3 bank assignments were also

    Who is Chemist Robert Boyle?

    by

Robert Boyle was an important guy in the 17th C and he is considered one of the founders of modern chemistry.  He was responsible for making chemistry a respected science.  Because of him, it became a real science not a study of alchemy and mysticism.  He introduced the idea of careful measurements and repeated experiments.

    Week Two!

    by
It’s been fun week learning the way around DS 106 . I am still getting used to the format of the class, figuring out where to find different assignments. I have learned that the DS 106 community is far and wide and there are a variety of different activities DS 106 students can take part […]

    Week 2: Daily Creates!

    by
This week we began to experiment with “Daily Creates.” DS 106 daily creates are daily creative challenges that the DS 106 community can take part in. They are simple assignments that take less than 10 minutes to complete. At first I was skeptical of the daily creates, but I soon learned that they are actually […]
