Adventures in Audio Week 5 “tweet – along”

    by
I participated to  my  first “tweet – along” Thursday night. I listened to ds106radio. The radio broadcast was Orsen Wells War of the Worlds. I learned about this broadcast in history class but  never took the time to listen to the radio broadcast until Thursday night. It was interesting how they used sound effects in …

    DS106 RADIO

    by
I had work every night this week so sadly I couldn’t participate in the listen. I did however listen today from 3:30 – 4:30pm. It was easily the most enjoyable radio experience I’ve had in a very long time. The host, DJ Sheila B, shared a lot about her feelings about the Kavanaugh trial and … Continue reading DS106 RADIO

    DS106 Radio!

    by
Well that was an interesting experience! It’s definitely not what I expected when I thought about what the show would be like! #ds106 I appreciate the accents! pic.twitter.com/FlkeZZPBim — Alexis (@Alexis54552906) September 28, 2018 #ds106 this is very intense. I don't know what is going on! — Alexis (@Alexis54552906) September 28, 2018 #ds106 You can't … Continue reading "DS106 Radio!"

    Thursday Night ds106radio

    by
War of worlds… Now what do you think of when you hear that title…? I definitely didn’t think it was going to be what it was. An alien invasion?!?! Honestly, it was pretty cool to listen to, but annoying at times because I wanted to actually see what I was hearing and couldn’t (ugh). But […]

    Tweet-Along

    by
This is my first time listening to a radio show, and my first time live tweeting! Tuning in, I've never listed to a radio show that wasn't music before! #ds106radio #ds106 — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Nope, never on the radio! Music only #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Oh, this isn’t Downton Abbey? Why does this remind me of Downton Abbey? #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Someone suggested it was the accents, which yes for sure, but also I do think it had a lot to do with the sound effects! Many were the same. Have you ever thought about beeps in movies/television/radio shows? I hadn’t, but now I can’t stop! Hospitals, airports, intercoms, various machines. Do you have any that you can think of? There are so many unique ones! That beep before he spoke over the Airport intercom was so iconic. I've never realized how many different beeps that exist in the world specific to certain places! #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 So, I guess my attention span isn’t that great, or at least is very tied to visual things! I was finding it hard to concentrate on the story without having something to look at! Even a picture or drawing representing the show would have helped! Starring at the wall felt awkward, looking at everyone’s tweets was fine, but otherwise I kept being temped to just scroll on my computer. So, as a follow up, I asked what everyone was looking at! Is anyone else finding it hard to follow along when there's nothing to look at? My mind keeps wandering #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Follow up: What ARE you guys looking at? The wall? The computer? #ds106radio https://t.co/hsgygq8WO5 — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 Then I actually tweeted about the content of the show again. I wasn’t quite sure what we were supposed to be tweeting about, so I just went with whatever came to mind through the hour! I was shocked that he would ask his brother’s fiance to run away with him! Wow that was BOLD Spider. Very bold #ds106 #ds106radio — Richelle Holnick (@RichelleHolnick) September 26, 2018 That wraps it up for my live tweeting! Listening to the radio like this was an interesting experience. I mostly (if ever now) use it for music, when I was younger I would sometimes listen to the talk shows on the radio in the morning while getting ready for school, but that was only the morning shows that they have on the music stations where they talk for a few minutes every once and awhile. I still remember it, Elvis and the morning show! On Q102 (a top 40 station based out of Philly). Thanks for reading and tweeting along with me!

    A Very Spidery Audio Drama!

    by
On Monday (9/24), I participated in the first of the four live “tweet-alongs”. We listened to an audio drama-Anansi Boys. The actual process was pretty easy. I just sat at my computer (well, actually, I was lying down on my bed with my computer on my chest and stomach). Twitter is very quick and easy […]

Girls’ Guide to the Apocalypse has Aired

    by
On Tuesday, March 20th, my survivalist group’s radio show aired on DS106 Radio. It was so exciting to listen to something that we all worked so hard on on a platform where anyone and everyone could hear it! Rachel did a wonderful job editing everything together. There was one moment that the volume was a […]

    Weekly Summary

    by
The past two weeks have been really stressful. On a personal note, my dog, Angel passed on the 7th of October. She was 24 years old and I’d had her since I was 19, so for 14 years she was my sole companion. It hit be hard and it was big adjustment and work, school …

    Suspense

    by
I’ve been pleasantly surprise how easy the collaboration between most members of the group has been solely through online communication. I live and work in Arlington, so meeting in person wasn’t an option for me. And while online communication made my life easier, it also made me nervous about putting together a radio show. I …

    Live-Tweet

    by
Live tweeting was a whole new experience for me. Listening to the show for a couple of seconds made me realize that it was about a detective trying to solve a case, like ‘Sherlock’. Sound effects were very effective and everything was very clear about what was going on in the show; when the scenarios …

    Listening to ds106 Radio

    by
This last Wednesday, I tuned in to ds106 radio to listen in on an 'Audio Drama' that was airing for the evening. Admittedly, I didn't enjoy the show at first, because the drama that was being presented was simply the audio from a N...
