    Supreme Cinematography

    by
I chose some cool cinemagraphic shots from The Bourne Supremacy to analyze and use as examples for the different aspects of images. I found many aspects of images in this shot of Jason Bourne burning Marie’s passports and pictures. You can see Bourne in the moment that he is burning her belongings. Since the fire

    Kingsman ds106photography

    by
Kingsman is a movie I like to classify as a James Bond Parody. As you can see the contrast is focused on Colin Firth, the suited guy in the picture. This is a cool picture because you can see the ridiculous nonsense that is going on in the background. The lighting is also decent as…

    Precious ?Photographs

    by
This week is all about photography and how visuals can be used to convey stories and meanings. In order to learn more about photography, I started my week by reading Becoming a Better Photographer from the ds106 Handbook and Photography and narrative: What is involved in telling a story?. These two readings helped me really reflect on and […]

    Cinematography Analysis of Step Brothers

    by
After reading Becoming a Better Photographer and Photography and narrative: What is involved in telling a story? I learned a lot about selection, contrast, perspective, depth, balance, moment, lighting, foreground/background. To exemplify what I learned I chose two scenes from Step Brothers (my favorite movie) because he was playing with spy related objects such as …

    Analyzing photos

    by
These are 2 still shots from the Game of Thrones which, in my opinion, goes along with our theme. You see the different perspectives between the two. The first one, you have no idea what she’s looking at, and you think the people in the back are looking at her. But then in the second, […]

    ā€œOnce Upon a Timeā€ Review

    by
I decided to watch the pilot episode of “Once Upon a Time” on Netflix. The show uses a lot of fairytales and myths, so I thought it would be a perfect example. I have watched several episodes before and decided to rewatch the first episode. The show uses a lot of pretty scenery and uses a lot of lighting to indicate when bad things are happening or when the evil characters are on the screen.   This episode used a ton of the topics we discussed. I picked the ones that I thought were the best examples. The use of lighting was one of the most prominent features used. The lighting indicated a characters moral (whether they were evil or not) and also the general mood of the town/people. I liked being able to apply what I learned into watching the show and finding examples and seeing how often lighting, background, and the other topics were used. Until next time, Emily

    Hercules Photographies

    by
I really enjoyed reading Becoming Better Photographers and Photography and narrative: What is involved in telling a story?. I think they both gave me good, new perspectives on photography and how to tell richer stories using photography. I decided to use the Disney movie Hercules to look for cinematography shots that line up with the photography techniques we have …

    The Likely Tragedy

    by
Response to the storytelling podcast Starting off I wasn’t really sure if where they were until they started counting down to landing and I wasn’t sure until the failure speech was being read that it was a space mission and not an airplane. I really enjoyed the little effects because you could here the sounds …
